I’m a woman of many earrings and other wearable art pieces. If you know me and/or my blog, there is one particular pattern in my art that is my timeless source of inspiration – I like gifting a new life to dead technology. I see something beautiful in purpose-built human creations that fulfilled their purpose. Due to space limitations and moving around the world, I tend to scavenge rather small and interesting pieces of electrowrecks. They get cleaned, combined with more natural materials and blended together into geometric patterns.
Now, let me present you the treasures for this project:
- A hard drive spindle
- Norwegian 5-kroner coin
- A circle of an unknown origin identified by Google Lens as a Japanese wheel bearing (+button)
The three wheels were already turned into necklaces many many years ago. They were transformed using colorful strings for embroidery and a little imagination. Unfortunately, time was not merciful to them, and they approached the end of their second life. They were perfect for any occasion, so I loved wearing them often! Since these necklaces did a great service, I’ve decided to rescue them again. Again, by adding colorful strings. And the wheel of life keeps spinning…
